What Do You Do?

When it seems like all hope is lost,
And your every move takes you back to your past
What do you do?
How do you begin to move forward when every step you take pushes you back?

What do you do when you can't breathe and there's no one around to give you air?
You reach out! You grasp! You choke!
You get slapped right where it hurts!


Your hands are up!
Your arms ache! You don't know how much more you can take.
Your throat is parched from crying for help.
Your eyes are bloodshot 'cause you can't sleep....
Afraid to close your eyes lest some fool rob you of your spot.

What do you do when you can't breathe
'cause you've held your hands up too long?
You've forgotten what it feels like to breathe on your own.
All your life your deeds were done as you were told,
Now you are on your own
Trying to make ends meet, but still,
